The last few weeks we studied Germany and Europe during WWII. Last week the Gestapo visited during the co-op and the "Jews" had to hide in a closet behind a bookcase. They had to keep silent, not easy when they had a 5 year old in there with them. The rest of the kids had to explain why there were so many chairs and cups on the table. I can't imagine the stress that these encounters truly caused for the Jews and those hiding them.
This week we studied rationing, black outs, air raids, drafting and propaganda. The kids had a great time making carrot cookies and they were very yummy. Once again the hosting family did an incredible job coming up with activities for the kids.
At home we are continuing our journey through the White Stallion book. R~ is going to do a report on the rescue of these famous stallions during WWII at our culmination party. H~ will memorize some poetry and do a report on an undertermined topic.
In the pet zone: Lucky seems to be fine without his mom, Princess. The girls and I still really miss her and have been recalling many funny stories. We would sit and watch "Bunny TV" often and she was the star of the show.
My horse education is growing by the day. This week I learned how to drive the truck with the horse trailer. Forward is okay, still learning how wide is wide enough on the turns. Reverse, yikes. I need to find a parking lot and just practice.
Cody had his dental this week and Pumpkin was spade and declawed this week. I am sorry for all of you that are opposed to such a surgery, but it is best for our home.
Another busy, but fun school week.
